Join Fretwork

Fretwork was formed almost twelve months ago to take over the mantle of the Textile Finishers' Association and the TEXFLAM Group in representing the interests of companies involved in the flame retardant textile supply chain. It has become apparent from the meetings we have held that the companies involved, who include chemical manufacturers through to retailers, agree that there is a clear need for Fretwork to generate and co-ordinate activities on their behalf.

We can only exist through the subscriptions paid by our members. The subscription has been set at what we believe to be the very modest level of £200 per year, and we have been gratified by the support we have received from many companies. We now believe that, in fairness to those companies who have become members, the point has been reached where we can no longer involve non-members in the full range of our activities.

We hope that you will feel that our activities are relevant to you and are of value to your company, and that you will wish to continue to be involved by becoming a member.

DEFRA report

DEFRA has published its report into the sustainability of flame retardant treatments for textiles.

Although we are working to secure the future of Deca, this document may be equally important. If you are involved in using flame retardants on textiles you need to read this paper. You can download a copy from the DEFRA website.

We are holding a meeting at some time in the future to draw up a response to this paper from the textile sector. Dates will be announced soon.

If you are interested in coming to this meeting, please drop us an e-mail at fretwork@btinternet.com.
